John Fujii

John has a long history of serving local municipalities. In his 23 years practicing law in California, Mr. Fujii has honed his skills litigating cases in state and federal courts. He has handled cases involving the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), civil rights, constitutional law, employment, and tort matters involving dangerous conditions of public property. Mr. Fujii also has considerable appellate experience having argued numerous cases in the Courts of Appeal. In addition, Mr. Fujii has extensive transactional experience in municipal law.

Prior to joining Silver & Wright LLP, Mr. Fujii spent over eighteen years working as a local City Attorney in beautiful Southern California. In his capacity as City Attorney, Mr. Fujii handled both transactional and litigation matters, including jury trials and appeals, and represented the City before administrative agencies. He was successful in obtaining summary judgment in over 10 state and federal court cases. Before his municipal tenure, Mr. Fujii served as Senior Deputy City Attorney for Huntington Beach City Attorney’s Office for nearly two decades and has transactional experience in all aspects of government agency operations and public entity law including drafting contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and legal opinions. Working with City management, Mr. Fujii has provided legal advice and drafted legal opinions on all types of public law issues, including environmental matters, the California Environmental Quality Act, “CEQA”, the Public Records Act, and the Ralph M. Brown Act.

John has a lifelong passion for the law and a unique appreciation for mentorship. John has spent many years on the Board of Directors for the local Asian American Bar Association, as well as a member of the Community Outreach Committee of the Orange County Bar Association. He takes pride in mentoring young attorneys and assisting them in navigating their early careers. Mr. Fujii recognizes the path to success starts with attention to detail. To that end, Mr. Fujii spent years teaching legal research and writing as an adjunct professor at Chapman University School of Law.
